I spend a lot of time trying to keep up with all of my horse blogs – although using an RSS reader makes it simpler, the entries still seem to proliferate like OTTB’s. I like to visit all of my sites at least once a week so their stats reflect my readership, and so I can check out any new links or sidebar content that might not be reflected in the RSS feed. With that in mind, I thought a nice feature might be to have a once-a-week link round-up to some of my favorite posts. (Some of these posts are older than a week due to my new immersion in the horse blogging world, but as this feature continues, I’ll be keeping them within a weekly timeframe.)

There are really wonderful, instructive and entertaining writers out there – please visit them and let them know you enjoy their work!
UPDATE: I just found Deanna’s similar post from January at Improving Communication Between Horse and Rider.

I just got it figured out how to set up all the blogs I read in a feed. Its a good thing too, it was getting out of hand trying to track all of the newest posts down on that many blogs. Geez, I’m such a computer idiot! lol
MiKael – I just realized I didn’t have all the blogs I link to in my RSS feed (after I wrote the post) so now I am even further behind… sigh…
Thanks for your organized idea on “keeping up”. It’s almost a full time job and I certainly do not want to miss anything.
There are so many wonderful horse blogs with so much great information, as well as entertaining events. Thanks for including Simply Marvelous.
Wouldn’t miss it – you write great, in-depth posts that I really enjoy! I love the Budweiser Clydesdales, that’s why I included that post in particular.
Great idea for a weekly blog round up! Even checking my RSS feeds daily it’s very easy to overlook some good posts. I’ll have to check out the few on your list that I haven’t read yet.
LOL MiKael- you are not the ONLY computer idiot out there… I still have no clue about RSS… hehe You could say that I “Fear the Unknown” there…
Thanks very much for including Oh HorseFeathers in your roundup JDP! You idea is an excellent one. I am not sure just how the heck you are going to pull off a weekly review there, with so many great horse blogs alreadyout there and more coming almost daily now!
Keep up the great work here. ANd not only will I continue my equine education when stopping in here, maybe I can become a wee bit more tech savvy as well!
No worries – only 61 more posts to read and I will be caught up! HAH!
Jackie – I miss them too, that’s why I thought on Sundays I could make a real effort to catch up for the week. I’ve been at it for hours today!
Mrs. Mom – Thank you for reminding me, I have been meaning to update my tech page so others can see what I use. When I was putting the pages of the blog together I just threw up a list and I’ve been meaning to get back to it to explain and update. I use Google Reader, but I’ve also used Newsgator with great success for RSS feeds. If you have a lot of blogs to read, it really saves time. Let me know if you want help, I’d be happy to show you what to do.
JDP — I was just admiring your technical savvy, and then saw that you included one of the posts from my site. Thank you. I think your blog roll is longer than mine, so I’ll have to get on the ball and start adding more. Thanks again.
NuzMuz – Well, my technical savvy, for what it’s worth, is going to lead me to post about some things people who read blogs might find useful – I’ll try to work on that tonight or tomorrow. I’ve made a link on the side bar to my reader so I can share posts as I come across them – one of the great features of Google Reader.
Anyhoo, you’re quite welcome – I love book reviews (and blog reviews and tack reviews) and I go to the Western States Horse Expo each year, too! Maybe I’ll see you there. :p
JDP — The good news is that I’ve got a huge stack of horse books that I plan to review. The bad news is that it has taken me years just to get through the first chapter of some of them. By the time I can sit down and read, my vision is blurry from staring at computer screens all day. Plus reading puts me to sleep, so I am always in a race to finish a page before I pass out. Yea WSHE! I can’t wait to melt in the hot Sacramento sun again!

This is a such a great idea I am happy you thought of it. Thanks for including me in your post.
GHM, You are very welcome. I love your blog – it’s so informative!
